表達 給某人買某物，可用 buy/get someone something 或 buy/get something for someone，若表達 花多少錢買某物，可用 buy/get something for ＋ 多少錢，比如說： He bought a bracelet for her for $100. = He bought her a bracelet for $100.（他花了一百塊給她買了一只手鐲。）表達 購買，有一個正式用語或書面語是 purchase [ˋpɝtʃəs]，另外，表達 藉由購買獲得，即購得，可用 acquire [əˋkwaɪr]，其也是 正式用語。比如： Many low-income households cannot afford to purchase insurance.（許多低收入家庭買不起保險。）The 400-acre land was acquired by the UK government for urban renewal.（那塊400英畝的土地由英國政府購得，要做為都市更新用。）表達 搶購某樣東西，特別是因為東西很便宜或你很想要，可用 snap up something (snap something up)，若表達 購買某樣東西，特別是因為偶然發現或因為很便宜，可用 pick up something (pick something up)，如： She is jumping the queue to snap up a bargain.（她在插隊搶購便宜貨。）表達 購買你通常不會買的昂貴品，比如是為了要慶祝或犒賞自己，可用 splurge (on something) ( 美式用法 ) 或 splash out (on something) ( 英式用法 )，如： They splurged on a top-of-the-line refrigerator to celebrate their wedding anniversary.（他們花大錢買了一台頂級冰箱來慶祝結婚週年紀念日。）
