表達同情

表達 同情、憐憫某人 (X)，可透過 feel sorry for X、feel for X、sympathize with X ( sympathize 在英式英文中也可拼作 sympathise )、have sympathy for X ( 或 feel sympathy for X )、be sympathetic to X ( 或 be sympathetic toward(s) X )、pity X、feel pity for X、take pity on X ( 或 have pity on X )、feel compassion for X ( 或 have compassion for X )、be compassionate to X ( 或 be compassionate toward(s) X )  等等，表達 十分同情、非常同情某人 (X)，可透過 have every sympathy for X 、have every sympathy with X、be filled with pity for X、be filled with sympathy for X、be filled with compassion for X、be full of pity for X、be full of sympathy for X、be full of compassion for X、one’s heart bleeds for X ( 此句也可幽默地用來表達反義，即表達「一點都不同情某人 (X)」) 等，想告訴別人你同情他時，可對他說 you have my sympathy (「我同情你」)，想告訴別人你非常同情他時，或想向死者親屬表達慰問、弔唁之意時，可說 you have my deepest sympathy (「我深表同情」)，表達 對某人 (X) 表達同情之意，可透過 express (one’s) sympathy for X、one’s heart goes out to X、one’s sympathy goes out to X、one’s sympathy is with X ( 或 one’s sympathy lies with X )、commiserate with X (正式) 等，表達 對某人 (X) 表達弔唁、慰唁之意，可透過 express (one’s) condolences to X (正式) ( 此處和下列四者中的 condolences 皆可用 sympathy 或 sympathies 替換 )、send (one’s) condolences to X (正式)、give (one’s) condolences to X (正式)、offer (one’s) condolences to X (正式)、extend (one’s) condolences to X (正式)、one’s sympathy goes out to X、one’s sympathy is with X ( 或 one’s sympathy lies with X ) 等，此外，表達 博取同情，可透過 play for sympathy，表達 博取某人 (X) 的同情，可透過 play on X’s sympathy，表達 藉由訴說自己的不幸遭遇 ( 一般為捏造的故事 ) 來博取某人 (X) 的同情，可透過 give X a hard-luck story 或 give X a sob story (非正式)，表達 值得同情，可透過 deserve sympathy ( 這裡的 sympathy 也可用 pity 或 compassion 替換 )，表達 獲得某人 (X) 的同情，可透過 get ( 或 gain [gen] ) sympathy from X；還有，表達 樂意聽人傾訴並表達同情的人，可透過 a sympathetic ear 或 a shoulder to cry on，表達 同情、憐憫的對象，可透過 an object of pity ( 或說 an object of compassion、an object of sympathy 等 )，表達 弔唁信，可透過 a letter of sympathy 或 a letter of condolence [kənˋdoləns]；另外，表達 令人同情的、可憐的，可透過 poor (口語為主)、pitiful [ˋpɪtɪfəl]、pathetic [pəˋθɛtɪk]、wretched [ˋrɛtʃɪd]、piteous [ˋpɪtɪəs] (文學用語)、pitiable [ˋpɪtɪəbḷ] (正式) 等。
